Brooklyn, NY (June 1, 2016) - allette, a new fashion line of cute clothes that you can breastfeed in, has launched their e-commerce website today. The chic and cool first collection from Co-Founders, Celine Cohen and Oksana Pavlowsky includes a range of summer dresses and tops for the stylish new mom.
allette, a play on the French verb to breastfeed “allaiter”, was created to fill a void in the market, tops and dresses that are exclusively designed for the breastfeeding woman. The allette woman in a nutshell; has just had a baby, probably doesn’t quite fit into her old clothes yet, doesn’t want to spend another day in her maternity wardrobe, needs clothes that will have easy nursing access, but also, wants to start regaining a little bit of her old self and style back. But finding clothes that respond to all of these needs is no easy feat. “That’s where we come in,” says Co-Founder, Celine Cohen, “our approach from the very beginning has been to design and make clothes that we actually want to wear - and then figure out how to stylishly and conveniently include nursing access. We see ourselves as a fashion brand. Our clothes just happen to have functional nursing access.”
The struggle is real and allette understands. That’s why each unique style is comfortable, flattering, easy to care for, and yeah, pretty cute. “We really wanted to create something we had never seen before. Different fabrics that you wouldn’t normally associate with breastfeeding clothes, feminine silhouettes and just a touch of badass” claims Co-Founder, Oksana Pavlowsky.
The Summer collection includes a camouflage-patterned t-shirt named Camo Ellen and a flowy denim-blue dress with a gathered skirt named Blue Denyse. Every item is made in Brooklyn with high quality, easy-to-care-for fabrics and can be easily dressed up or down so they’re versatile too.
The tongue-and-cheek website and editorial shots are part of a bigger brand message that a nursing mom can still be cute and cool. “As a brand, we want to be about more than just clothes, we want new moms to know that it’s ok to still want to look good, even though you have this tiny little human depending on you. Baby wants you to look good”, Celine Cohen.
