IT’S BEEN A WHILE: SUMMER FUN, A NEW COLLECTION, A PHOTOSHOOT AND MORE TO COME
September, 7 2017
It’s been a while indeed. Our bad. Summer is awesome but, we’ll it’s Summer. Now that we have school-aged kids, Summers actually feel like Summers again. No lunches to pack, no rushed mornings, no homework...but also no routine, no classes (aka childcare) and far less work time. But yeah, it’s awesome. Oksana and I (Celine - hi!) take turns travelling with our families, hosting our international families and putting the kids in camp to try and get a little work done(!). Today kids started school again, it’s bittersweet to say the least. (Although these guys look pretty chuffed!).
But don’t be fooled by our radio silence. It has been a busy Allette summer, mamas! Here are some highlights...
In June, we launched the full Summer Collection and from the looks of it, our mamas liked it (aww, thanks!). We also did a trunk show in July with our friends at Wild Was Mama in Brooklyn which was a lot of fun. We attended some trade shows. We hosted a lot of local NYC mamas in our showroom this Summer too. At one point, we had five babies here at the same time. Which, of course, we love! Miss those baby cuddles...Side note: if you’ve been thinking about coming in, this is a great time. Just email [email protected] and book an appointment. We celebrated World Breastfeeding Week. We put out our biggest Summer Sale ever (still going on btw, check it out, it’s really good). We networked, we mingled, we entertained. And of course...we produced our new Fall Collection which just launched yesterday!
We had a great time with this Collection. We just love how it came together; the colors, the textures, the designs. We hope you love it as much as we do. Because we produce everything right here in NYC, we get to be a part of every aspect of production. This is really important to us because we want to make sure the final garments we send to our mamas are the best quality (and fit) possible. And who are we kidding? We’re pretty anal about things so need to oversee it all :) Among other things, this season we’ve brought back popular designs like the Margot Dress and Esther Top but in new colors and fabrics. These are tried-and-tested styles that our mamas have told us they love. We also introduced the Rosie Top which is just delightful. A proper chic sweater to dress up or down in three perfect colors: lavender, black (sable) and white (pearl). We just adore this one.
We ended the Summer with our most innovative and exciting photoshoot yet. We were lucky to be able to work with renown fashion photographer Dimitri Hyacinthe and gorgeous model Egle Tvirbutaite. These two were a dream team. Along with our awesome hair/makeup gal Lindsay, they worked some photographic magic all around the Union Square neighborhood of Manhattan. And of course, our tiny Brooklyn model Rafi (9 months old), was a gem to work with and is already a star in the making.
Our concept for the new campaign is all around the modern mama. Like most of us, she loves her new role as a mother but doesn’t want to lose her personal identity. She’s tired but fulfilled. She is amazed by how motherhood has changed her but also by how much she still wants to remain the same. Every day is a balance but she embraces it. We started Allette because we understand her; we are her. Nursing a baby should not have to mean compromising on personal style. The two do not have to be mutually exclusive. We want to help mamas feel (or at least look!) like their pre-baby selves. Looking and feeling good is not selfish or an afterthought, it makes us confident and happy which is exactly what baby needs from us. The campaign includes lines like “Because you are still you” and “Because mama is just one of your names”. I think most new moms can relate to this, I know we can.
Back to the shoot though! It was a lot of fun indeed (despite the five story walk-up to the roof!). Don’t worry, baby was perfectly safe up there. Here are a few behind-the-scene photos of the day. Look at us gushing over that little guy...
So what’s next for us? Immediately next up is the Shop Up event curated by Babyccino in Brooklyn. This one is going to be so good. It’s on September 17th & 18th. View the Babyccino ShopUp details here. Lots of gorgeous brands to shop from (baby & mama), yummy food and activities for the kiddies. And it’s FREE! This event is a must for all stylish NYC parents.
There’s more big news in the works too but we’ll save that for another post! Thanks for reading, friends. Enjoy the cooler weather (and clothes!).
